This is my grandma's recipie. It will make three loafs of bread.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups mlik

  • 1 Cup Luke warm Water (About 50 Degrees C Or 122 Degrees F)

  • 1 Stick of butter or margarine or 1/2 Cup

  • 2 Table spoons of sugar

  • 1 Table spoon of salt

  • 2 packages of active dry yeast or 2 table spoons

  • 9 - 10 cups of all purpose flour or bread flour

Method:

Mix sugar and water. Then dissolve yeast in the water and sugar mixture. Then set aside to bloom. Put the milk into a pot over low heat until the milk is warm. Then add the butter to the milk until the butter dissolves into the milk. Then add the salt and the water, sugar and yeast mixture to the butter and milk. Put that mixture into a bowl. Then add the 5 cups of flour and mix until smooth. Slowly add 1 cup of flour at a time until it becomes a dough and it is easy to handle. Then on a floured board, knead for 10 mins or you could use your dough hook in your Kitchen Aid or stand mixer. Then put the dough in a bowl and grease the top of it with butter. Then cover with a tea towel and let the dough rise until it doubles in size - this takes about 1 hour. Then punch down the dough on the board and knead it for 2 mins. Cut the dough into three equal pieces. Butter three loaf pans. Roll each piece of dough into a rectangle shape. Then roll each piece from the short end until it becomes a tight roll and use your hands to seal up the sides. Place the dough with the seam side down in the loaf pan. Then lightly brush the top of the dough with butter. Then let the dough rise until doubled - this takes about 1 hour. Heat the oven to 425 degrees F or 218 degrees C. When the oven is preheated, place the pans on the lower rack in the oven. The pans should not touch each other or the sides of the oven. Bake for 30 - 35 mins until golden brown. Remove from pans and brush with melted butter and let cool on a wire rack. Once cooled down, slice and enjoy!

Well Zander I’m not the most patient cook! However I looked at your ingredients and method to produce that enticing loaf. I know for sure I’m going to give it a go! I’ll be over the moon if it turns out even half as good as yours! Wish me luck! 🍀 💕
